The Escape Tribe is for people who are looking for more fulfilment in their work.

Who aren’t happy to accept life on the travelator.

Who are ambitious and motivated in their career, but unsure where to put their energy.

You probably got good grades, and listened to advice from parents and teachers. You landed a sensible job, and you’re good at it. You know what it feels like to ‘succeed’.

But perhaps that version of success doesn’t feel like all it was cracked up to be. There’s that nagging feeling – that you could do more, be more… do work that makes you feel really alive.

If that’s you, you’re not alone – you’re part of a growing group of people who are feeling disillusioned, looking for something different, but aren’t sure what that ‘something’ is.

It’s hard to know where to start or what the options are. And making change is scary. You might be thinking:

Am I too young, or too old?
What are the options out there for me? Do I have the skills I need?
Do I have the time to think about this?
Will I go broke? What if I fail, and it’s all a massive mistake?

That’s where the Escape Tribe comes in. Navigating these questions is tough, but it’s far easier with a bunch of likeminded people and the support of an expert leadership team who totally get it.

How it works

Making change is hard – we learned this first-hand, and from helping thousands of people to escape. We’ve distilled everything we’ve learned into this programme, so you can navigate your own escape with more clarity and fewer false-starts.

The Escape Tribe is a 12-week part-time programme that will:

Demystify the idea of career change.

Changing careers is riddled with uncertainty and fear of the unknown – but it doesn’t have to be a shot in the dark. You’ll be guided through all the key areas you need to know about to take control over your career direction.

Help you move from thinking to doing.

It’s all too easy to try and think your way to change. If you’re unclear about what the next step in your career looks like, the Tribe will help you conduct a series of small experiments to uncover new paths. We learn best by doing.

Empower you to take control of your career.

Although it can take more than 12 weeks to make a big career change, the Escape Tribe is an accelerator which will equip you with the tools and community for long-term momentum.

The three key ingredients

The Tribe experience is built around three important ingredients:

Action

We learn best by doing. Concepts are important but it’s only when we implement new ideas that we truly understand them.

Community

Communities give us confidence, hold us accountable, teach us about ourselves, and help us implement new ways of doing and seeing things.

Toolkit

It may not be easy to build a career on your own terms, but by using powerful tools and strategies, it has never been more possible than it is today.

“I keep saying this but, in all honesty, I cannot believe the person I was 3 months ago compared to who I am know. I feel like I’m awake again. I’m not just living for the weekend anymore – I’m hustling every single day and it’s bloody amazing!”

Effie, Escape Tribe

“I feel like I have a really solid framework to resurrect my Escape, which had stalled slightly over the past year due to a lack of direction and confidence. There are so many tools that I have picked up and a really diverse group that I feel I can turn to for motivation. I feel the alumni network will be invaluable over the coming months/years.”

Victoria, Escape Tribe

“Such a good investment. I’ve made friends for life as we all share a common goal and mindset. It’s refreshing to know that people are on the same wave length as me and get where I’m going from. The Escape Tribe has not only helped me to build a fulfilling career- but has touched others parts of my life too and given me the tools & encouragement for exploring personal development, which will enrich my life for ever. One of the best experiences ever and I’m so glad I did it!”

 Gabrielle, Escape Tribe

“I was considering a career coach at one stage (might still consider in future) but I think there is so much more one can gain from a group experience and getting exposure to different career coaches/experts and inspiring people, rather than just working with one person.”

Louanne, Escape Tribe

“This has been a truly life changing experience for me. I was in the dark and I couldn’t see through the trees.I feel I have been given the compass to help guide me through the forest.”

Escape Tribe

“I can honestly say that the Escape Tribe has been one of the best things I have ever done. I’ve found new value in myself, I’ve made friends for life, and I’m excited about what lies ahead.“

What You’ll Learn
Over the course of 12 weeks you will be guided through a learning and doing experience. The course is split into three sections covering 12 main principles for accelerating your career change.

Part 1: Know Yourself

The clues for your right direction are within you. Brave career transitions require good self-knowledge and a resilient mindset.

Part 2: Build Your Toolkit

Figure out what you want by starting DOING. Use your values & interests to undertake small experiments in order to see what works.

Part 3: Sustain Your Journey

The old career model required us all to fit in. Building a career on your own terms requires finding a niche and standing out.
By the end of the Escape Tribe you will:
Be a lot clearer on your “blockers” — the things that are keeping you stuck.
Have taken stock of your career history and highlighted the ingredients of fulfilling work that are missing for you.
Have a good understanding of the unhelpful narratives you’re telling yourself and begin to articulate new potential narratives for yourself.
Have a better sense of your unique values and what truly matters to you.
Tap back into your inherent creativity.
Begin to explore new areas of interest.
Understand how successful 21st century careerists create opportunities.
Begin testing your way into new career directions by spearheading new projects and kickstarting experiments into the world based on your interests.
Have a greater understanding of how you can demonstrate your value to others.
Have met a community of people at similar stages in their startup journeys.
Apply entrepreneurial tactics to your career change.
Be connected with a strong community of likeminded people who are on a similar mission to you.

After the Tribe…

Your journey doesn’t finish after 3 months. It’s only just beginning. After the course you’ll graduate into The Escape Club: a private group of 500+ previous Tribers on the same journey as you, who are there to support you as you take your next steps.

Success stories

Laina escaped teaching for her own photography project.

“I’ve always been fiercely passionate about education and helping young people, but became tired of working under a system where I was being undervalued and over-worked. I was suffering both physically and mentally, and realised that I was spending less time making a positive impact helping young people, and more time doing meaningless paperwork… Since escaping, I feel like I am the best version of myself.”

Matt transitioned from a full-time consulting job to solopreneurship.

“Taking action was pivotal for my mindset shift. I shifted from often thinking; “Oh god, what if I fail?” to now thinking, “let’s treat this as one glorious experiment, where I will fail, learn and be okay.” Taking action with the Tribe meant I saw positive outcomes. Taking actions and failing showed me that failure wasn’t ever the catastrophe I anticipated it would be.”

Daisy escaped the charity sector to launch her own innovation consultancy.

“My old mindset wanted one big, terrifying leap, not the challenge of many small steps. It was through sharing my inner turmoil with my fellow Tribe members that I found I wasn’t alone. This new mindset of the single step, rather than one giant leap, has given me the confidence to try new things, start new conversations and believe in the potential of myself to create change now.”

Who is the Tribe for?

The Escape Tribe is for people who believe life is too short to do work that doesn’t matter.

But more than this – The Escape Tribe is for doers. Your background, experience, industry, etc doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are up for this.

The Escape Tribe is for people who…

  • have a track record of being doers / proactive / achievers in some form.
  • are feeling stuck in some way but who are determined to make a change.
  • think they know what they want to do but need help with the process.
  • don’t know what they want to do but are prepared to work to find it out.
  • are prepared to step outside their comfort zones to create new opportunities.
  • are honest about their excuses and who are prepared to transcend them.
  • are prepared to change the way they see the world in order to change their place in it.
  • want to solve problems, create things, work hard, and have an impact.
  • are prepared to graft and work hard to become excellent at something.
  • understand that this process is hard and that it will take time.
The Escape Tribe is NOT for people who…
  • It’s not for dreamers who aren’t prepared to become doers.
  • It’s not for people whose excuses will sabotage any meaningful forward action.
  • It’s not for people who believe that work is something to be endured rather than enjoyed.
  • It’s not for people who are hoping for a path to a rewarding career that is both quick and easy.
  • It’s not for people for whom external symbols of success are more important than finding ways to do work that is meaningful and fulfilling to them.

Show us that you are this type of person in your application.
