Supply Chain Programme Manager – 2degrees Enterprise

Location: Oxford, UK

Starting salary: circa £35,000  plus benefits (dependent on experience)

The company

A fast growth innovation company that is already working with some of the world’s leading companies such as Tesco, GlaxoSmithKline, Kingfisher, Asda-Walmart and RBS on pioneering initiatives that help them to reduce costs/risks/impacts, innovate and grow by being more sustainable. We are an entrepreneurial, vibrant and forward-thinking team that rewards individuals with high levels of personal responsibility and opportunities for rapid career progression. To support our client business we have built a unique collaboration technology platform and developed what is now the world's leading online community helping its nearly 40,000 professional members to make sustainable business happen in their own organisations.

The role & responsibilities

We are looking for exceptional individuals with experience in Retail/FMCG to take a lead in the running of our Supply Chain Engagement programmes with major clients.

You will grow and manage a community of relevant stakeholders, helping them to collaborate at a technical level to increase resource efficiency, for example: reducing energy, water, waste and carbon emissions.

You will be leading a team to deliver the client’s resource efficiency targets, utilising our technology, process and expertise to engage their suppliers in a compelling programme of activities.

Clients are using our managed service approach to overcome the challenges they face such as:

  • Building resilience in their global operations and supply chains

  • Accessing innovation that can transform the amount of energy, waste or water associated with the products they buy, sell or consume

  • Transforming their reputation by doing the “right thing” throughout the value chain to their consumers

You will run these pioneering programmes with some of the world’s greatest companies.

Key areas of responsibility for this role

Lead the programme:
  • Identify: gather and interpret data from stakeholders using a range of tools eg. survey data & behavioural data

  • Facilitate: use this intelligence to inform and identify areas of opportunities linking both members’ and client’s priorities, for example: identifying a segment of the membership that are interested in efficient boiler technologies & facilitating knowledge sharing in this group

  • Connect: within any identified opportunities track any resulting activity, use this to drive further activity in the Community, and measure & report benefits delivered for members

Lead a team:
  • Key point of contact for the client; building strong client relationships at middle-management level

  • Understanding and communicating the client’s challenges and opportunities

  • Managing programme communications (e.g. Newsletters) and driving increased engagement

  • Inspiring and personally engaging members and client teams through regular communication by telephone, email, the 2degrees platform, and face-to-face interactions (e.g events)

Ensure the tracking, analysis and reporting of outcomes:
  • Leading the team in the analysis of member engagement and progress against targets

  • Developing systems to track, record the benefits of the programme, and report to the client

  • Creating and presenting reports of engagement metrics and outcomes

Develop the team by:
  • Helping them to fulfill their potential and deliver their individual responsibilities

  • Ensuring all team members understand the requirements of their role and how they align with company-wide Critical Success Factors

Profile of the successful candidate

The desire to support executives within supplier companies is absolutely essential for this role. You will have experience in a retail/FMCG position, preferably within the food/fmcg sector, and a clear understanding of what the members from supplier companies require. You will also need to be confident, highly professional, articulate and an engaging communicator both on the phone and in-person.

You must be goal-oriented, have the ability to motivate a team, and strong desire to make things happen and reach team targets. You will be a team player with a co-operative attitude that is able to work confidently with clients, your supplier community and for the good of the company. A strong sense of providing outstanding customer service is also necessary, as you will be expected to develop long-running relationships with your community members.

Required skills, experience and characteristics:

  • MSc in Business, BSc sufficient with relevant work experience

  • Experience in a commercial role working within retail/FMCG or a related area

  • Professional approach and able to inspire confidence in our clients and community members – both senior managers and technical experts

  • Strong telephone and face-to-face communication skills

  • Experience of supply chain issues

  • Proven strong writing and editing ability (blogging, analysis, reports)

  • Strong organisational and management skills - able to plan and organise a team to deliver

  • An interest in sustainable business (e.g. energy efficiency, carbon reduction, waste management)

  • Knowledge of basic marketing principles

  • Exposure to, and an intuitive understanding of, what it takes to build online communities would be valuable but not essential
