8th Day Adventure is London’s leading sport, adventure and social club. With more than a thousand members and hundreds of events each year, covering the entire spectrum of sports and activities, it’s a vibrant and fun club. We’re now looking to expand rapidly, both within London and also across the UK.
The club is seeking investment to fund these plans, which will chiefly allow this currently one man business to grow to include a web developer (to handle all aspects of a constantly developing site), a marketing manager and a further admin role to help the business cope with the increased number of members and events. In the past 6 months the business has already made some small changes and trebled membership. It’s a very exciting time for the business, and this is a golden opportunity to get in right at the start of what could be one of the next big things!
You have the opportunity to take full control of the site and develop it as you see fit in line with the company agenda. You should not only have good experience and knowledge of developing sites, but also have a creative edge to make the site as visually appealing as possible. In due course we are likely to take on more developers, so this is also a chance for the right person to build something special that could then see them managing a team.

To be considered for this superb opportunity, you must have:
- Strong commercial web development experience
- Strong knowledge of HTML 5, CSS 3, HTML, CSS, AJAX, jQuery and Javascript
- Good knowledge of different frameworks Scripting skills – i.e. JavaScript, PHP, Perl
- Experience working in and administering MySql5
- Automated browser testing and unit testing
- Strong understanding of web standards, accessibility, SEO, browser compatibility, developing for mobile devices and image optimization
- A strong online portfolio of work
- Experience ensuring that sites are developed to be robust, stable and scalable
- Ability to deliver scalable applications and carry out benchmarking
Additionally you must have a self-starting nature with great problem solving skills and a team player mentality.

MARKETING MANAGER

The club is seeking investment to fund these plans, which will chiefly allow this currently one man business to grow to include a web developer and a marketing manager to capitalise on this improved product. A further admin role to help the business cope with the increased number of members and events will follow. In the past 6 months the business has already made some small changes and trebled membership. We need someone who has a broad knowledge of all areas of marketing, with a particular emphasis on social media and online advertising.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage and implement entire company marketing strategy and programme.
- Grow awareness and create demand through the creation of both national and localised content
- Develop relationships with key media influencers and publications
- Manage and implement social media and online advertising activities
- Manage the monthly newsletter, generating interesting content to both grow the distribution list and encourage event booking
- Initiate and execute affiliate relationships and strategic partnerships
- Attend various events throughout the year - though the right candidate should want to do this anyway!
- This is a hands-on job in a start-up culture that requires focus and commitment and willingness to help out in other areas of the business if needs be.
Desired Skills & Experience
This is a multi-disciplinary role, requiring a versatile and creative individual with a strong grasp of strategy and who is able to implement all aspects of the marketing programme.
- 4+ years of marketing experience
- Previous experience of working in a startup environment or a high growth leisure company is a benefit
- Analytical and precise individual in tune with ROI associated with marketing activities
- Specific experience with Social Media and Digital advertising technologies.
- Assist in business planning
- Proven experience owning marketing campaigns and efforts from start to finish
- Excellent writing, communication, and organisational skills

The pitch for investment is likely for around the end of March, so whilst the position is dependent upon receiving this, we will ideally have the right person lined up well before this, to start as soon as possible thereafter.
