Our partner organisations in Burundi and the DRC help bring further peace and reconciliation between people and groups who were previously in conflict. Our Burundi partner brings young people from different backgrounds together, resulting in greater understanding and trust. Our partner in the DRC runs local courts to allow community-owned democratic justice and reconciliation, and is also focused on returning child soldiers to their families.

A French-speaking volunteer accountant is required for 5+ weeks, the bulk of which will involve supporting the staff of our DRC partner. Accommodation is provided at no cost – depending on the preferences of the volunteer, a hotel in Uvira, DRC, can be provided or a homestay just across the border in  Bujumbura, Burundi is also available. Expenses will be provided, which can be used to pay for flights at the volunteer’s discretion.

The role of the volunteer will involve a large amount of coaching and mentoring local staff who are enthusiastic to learn. Support in the preparation of annual financial statements is also required.

The organisation will be able to collect the volunteer from the airport.

Uvira is situated next to the stunningly beautiful Lake Tanganyika.
