Volunteer assignments of 2 to 12 weeks are tailored to your needs and form part of an ongoing strategy to build the financial management capacity and long term sustainability of small community based charities across Africa, Asia and South America.

AfID have an opportunity for an accountant to volunteer with is a small charity partner in Malawi. Our partner aims to improve the living standards of communities surviving in the most marginalized rural areas of the Rumphi district. The organisation focuses on food security, household income levels, HIV and Aids, and gender disparities.

A volunteer accountant is  required for 2-4 weeks to help develop the organisation’s financial management policy, help with forecasting and budgeting, cash flow calculations, programme budgets, and to mentor local staff.

The organisation is within striking distance of the stunning Nyika National Park.

Its current projects are:

1. Care and support to grandmothers hosting orphans and vulnerable children

2. Care and support to orphans/vulnerable children and people living with AIDS

3. Improving market linkage through enhanced sustainable agriculture project

4. Youth Empowerment

The charity supports the marginalized rural communities within Rumphi and the adjacent Mzimba districts of northern Malawi with the following beneficiaries:

a. 420 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC)

b. 109 People Living with HIV/AIDS

c. 240  local farmers

d. 105 Youths aged between 10 to 29

e. 71 grandmothers

Accounting for International Development (AfID) arranges tailor-made volunteer placements from 2 weeks to 2 years with charities all over the developing world.
