ABOUT

Be the Indiana Jones of accountants!

Accounting for International Development (AfID) arranges tailor-made volunteer placements from 2 weeks to 2 years with charities all over the developing world.

You could be training Tanzanians in bookkeeping, budgeting for a school in El Salvador, financial reporting for a hospital in Thailand or mentoring an INGO's new FC in Cameroon.

For a better idea of the kind of role you could be performing, read here about our past volunteers: http://www.afid.org.uk/interview-stephen-white

We’ve placed over 300 accountants in 28 countries – old and young, management accountant, forensic accountant, auditor, chartered accountant or financial accountant; your skills are relevant and needed.

Grassroots organisations such as health clinics, street child centres and schools hugely benefit from financial coaching and support: the improvement in financial management allows them to continue their good work, to support more people in their communities and secure a long term future. This is also a chance to gain experience in the third sector if you are looking for a career change.

  • Conducting a Financial Health Assessment/Internal Audit

  • Coaching and developing the accounting skills of local charity staff

  • Assisting with the preparation and analysis of financial plans and budgets

  • International donor relations reporting
