ABOUT
Accounting for International Development is working with a charity which provides healthcare, health education and disease monitoring for the remote floating communities of Tonle Sap. People from these fishing communities subsist on a low income and due to their isolation find it difficult to access modern healthcare.

The charity runs floating clinics, including specially adapted boats, to service the needs of the region.

A first volunteer accountant is required for 2-3 weeks from February to assess the needs of the organisation and inform the terms of reference for AfID’s programme of support.

As the first AfID volunteer at the organisation your role would be akin to conducting an internal audit . You will need to gain an understanding of the organisation and its structure, assessing its existing financial procedures and controls, and making recommendations / implementing changes that you deem necessary. This is of vital importance because not only will you help the organisation during your assignment but your assessment and reports will form the basis for future assignments.

The role will be based in Siem Reap.

Accounting for International Development (AfID) arranges tailor-made volunteer placements from 2 weeks to 2 years with charities all over the developing world.

You could be training Tanzanians in bookkeeping, budgeting for a school in El Salvador, financial reporting for a hospital in Thailand or mentoring an INGO's new FC in Cameroon.
