Accounting for International Development (AfID) sources volunteer accountants to build the skills of local staff at charities and community-based organisations in Africa, Asia and South America. Through mentoring the skills of local staff and improving systems and processes, AfID programmes help build the financial efficiency, sustainability and transparency of organisations such as street kid centres, rural health clinics and women’s rights groups.

For the many other voluntary accounting roles available subscribe to our Opportunities Emailer (http://eepurl.com/iqrAE) or join our Linkedin group (http://linkd.in/VlJd9N)

Our partner is a gorilla conservation organisation in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The staff at the organisation need coaching in the basics of financial management, and systems and processes need to be set up. The volunteer will need to familiarize themselves with Abacus (a double-entry bookkeeping application) in order to coach the staff.

Flights and accommodation will be provided, and the volunteer will be based either in Rwanda or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
