Our partner seeks to strengthen and empower local communities to protect children facing the gravest injustices. Its educational rights-based programmes aim to engage the community to equip vulnerable children with the skills, knowledge and capacity to become active agents of change within their own communities. Our programmes also aim to create an enabling environment, free from stigma, where the most vulnerable can speak freely and advocate for their rights.

The Role:

Our partner is seeking to expand its board of trustees to provide additional support to the charity and promote its development and growth. It is looking for trustees who have the skills to contribute to effective governance and have the experience to be able to promote the charity’s activities to potential corporate and community supporter groups.

The ideal candidate:

  • Would have had  previous experience at operating at a senior management level for a corporate or within the third sector;
  • Will be interested in and has the skills to represent and to promote the charity’s activities within potential supporter groups;
  • Have a genuine interest in international development and the plight of children at risk, as well as be motivated by supporting all aspects of our work;
  • Senior level management;
  • Would be committed to the charities mission and values and to a rights based approach to development.

The role is based in Central London (The offices are in Guildford, but board meetings are held in central London), usually on weekday evenings (following work hours).

The Board meets on a quarterly basis. Trustees are expected to attend these meetings and attend to their assigned tasks between meetings. A commitment of 16 hours per quarter would be expected.

The position is offered for a period of 12 months with the possibility to extend in the future at mutual agreement by both parties.

This is an unpaid position with reasonable travel expenses being covered.
