Our partner is a rural community development organisation that aims to eradicate poverty and promote a gender-sensitive society with environmental conservation underpinning all its programme activities. It currently has projects in bee-keeping, maize milling, community health, education and a village saving loans scheme.

This would be a first volunteer assignment and your role at the organisation would be akin to conducting an internal audit. You will need to gain an understanding of the organisation and its structure, assessing its existing financial procedures and controls, and making recommendations / implementing changes that you deem necessary.

Our partner is receiving funding from the Global Environmental Facility under the UNDP for a year. They would like to ensure that their accounting system is fit for purpose when the funding comes in. You would in effect be setting up a basic accounting system from scratch and also be helping to create a financial procedures manual, assist with budgeting as well as donor reporting.

The role is based in Kachimbeka in Noth Malawi. Ideally volunteer would start in January for 2-3 weeks
