Our partner is an award-winning non-profit in West Africa that uses a mobile technology platform to provide a comprehensive set of services. Its model aims to double farm income and help farmers move out of poverty.

In the past year our partner has gone from helping 240 farmers to 1160, and will continue to scale to 75,000 over the next five years.

Small-scale farmers across the globe make up 70% of the world’s poor, so our partner wants to build a model for savings layaway in Senegal that can be adopted by other organisations to serve farmers throughout the world.

Job Role:

The AFID Volunteer will provide leadership to our partners operational and financial management strategy. They will be responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated policies and procedures both in the finance and general operations realms, develop capacity within its financial teams as well as ensure that it is completing its work in a timely, efficient, and high-quality manner.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Work with the Executive Team and Finance Managers to ensure proper financial and planning cycles;

·         Improve monthly close process and develop monthly and quarterly reports and analysis for each level;

·         Lead, in collaboration with the Director of Operations, organisation-wide financial, operational and HR system strengthening;

·         Conduct and communicate financial analyses on core elements of the organisation;

·         Build, improve and execute sound operational and financial systems and provide oversight of daily activities;

·         Create a system of checks and balances for managing assets and cash on a regular basis;

·         Improve current set of checklists, financial manual and procedures;

·         Develop weekly and monthly work plans and project schedules for finance team in line with site goals and priorities;

Liaise with the Development Manager and CEO to ensure smooth communication between the Development and the Operations teams and take initiative at improving internal communications as well as information systems.

This assignment will in January for 6 months. If you can commit to 6 months or longer the organisation will cover flights and accommodation. If you are unable to commit to 6 months the organisation will only be able to contribute to accommodation.
