Our partner is a child’s rights and development organisation based in Gujarat, India. They currently have a 24-hour toll-free telephone line for children in crisis, a child’s rights collective (run by children ranging from ages 6-18 themselves!) and a vocation and life skills centers.

You will be the third volunteer with our partner organization. The first and second volunteer spent three-weeks in February and September respectively, last year supporting them with their annual accounts. They helped create a monitoring system used to report cost variances, a cash forecasting mechanism as well as an endowment calculator. Our partners have subsequently been in contact with us expressing a need for a third AfID volunteer for a longer time-period.

They would specifically like support in the following areas:

  1. Creating a consolidated system for tracking budgets for all of the organization’s different donors
  2. Better cash management
  3. Improved presentation of financial reports to donors
  4. Developing a strategy for creating an endowment fund and a long-term resource mobilization plan.

This assignment is for 2-3 months, starting from March. Ideally the volunteer will be an experienced accountant.
