Our partner works towards providing medical care to people living in Sierra Leone who were most affected by the civil war. They have two broad programmes: a primary care clinic that caters for around 20,000 patients a year. This is supplemented with community-based programmes, delivered by over 100 health workers who educate and screen people in remote villages for communicable diseases, accompany patients to clinics and during treatment, and provide homecare to those which chronic conditions. They have offices in Sierra Leone and the US.

Our partner have requested the support of an AfID volunteer, because they have rapidly outgrown their internal organisational capacity and are now attracting funding from large donors.

You would be the first AfID volunteer, and your role would be akin to undertaking an internal audit; carrying out a general assessment of their accounting processes and controls, and making recommendations, or implementing changes as you deem necessary. Staff in Sierra Leone needs support with completing reconciliations, budget vs actual variances and commentary, and donor reporting. They would like the Sierra Leonean system to be aligned with the US system, and therefore training on Quickbooks would also be beneficial.

Our partner would ideally like someone for 1-2 months starting in May-June.
