Action Tutoring is an exciting educational charity providing low cost tuition to schools to support pupils preparing for GCSEs, who are at risk of leaving school without basic qualifications. Through our network of volunteer tutors we provide tutoring in English, Maths and Science to help pupils achieve at least a C grade in these subjects at a crucial point in their education.

Action Tutoring has grown rapidly over the last 3 years, now operating in 30 schools in London, 10 schools in Manchester and preparing to launch in Sheffield. We have received funding to expand our work further across England and are looking to appoint a Regional Manager to carry this work forward. Working closely with the Action Tutoring Director you will be responsible for leading the establishment of Action Tutoring in new regions and consolidating the work in existing regions outside of London. The job is based in London, with travel expected around England.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Overseeing the establishment of Action Tutoring in new regions, according to agreed targets, delivering pilot programmes initially and then rolling the programme out to agreed levels of scale

  • Manage the regional facilitators in each area of operation

  • Establish relationships with local schools and other educational organisations/networks in each region

  • Establish local avenues for recruiting volunteer tutors in different regions, working with Action Tutoring's Volunteer Manager

  • Oversee the regional process and system for recruiting volunteer tutors, including quality checks and safeguarding policies, working closely with regional facilitators

  • Work closely with the regional facilitators to ensure programmes are delivered at appropriate and manageable times

  • Put into place operations and systems to ensure the smooth running of programmes in the regions, building on Action Tutoring’s existing operations

  • Oversee the training of volunteer tutors in partnership with the schools and regional facilitators

  • Oversee the delivery of programmes in schools, ensuring school and volunteer satisfaction and responding to any concerns in partnership with regional facilitators

  • Monitoring and evaluating the delivery of the programme in schools in different regions, reporting regularly to the Director
