Our Infrastructure and Climate Change Practice is growing. Fast. We need a strong Project Manager to join us. Reporting to the Practice Director, we’re looking for someone out of the ordinary, who likes variety and can adapt to a challenge.
Project Managers play a fundamental role in our operating model, managing the technical and financial performance of projects.

Reports to: Director, Infrastructure and Climate Change
Location: London SE1, plus extensive international travel (approximately 50% or more)

You will take responsibility for:

  • Ensuring consultancy projects are properly structured and adequately resourced
  • Ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget and that all agreed outputs are delivered to clients
  • Ensuring that outputs are delivered as required by the project Terms of Reference and/or activity plans subsequently agreed
  • Working with the project technical team (particularly the technical Team Leader) and the Project Director to ensure that work is delivered to a technical standard that fully meets client requirements
  • Working with the technical Team Leader and Project Director in agreeing strategic direction of the project
  • Assisting in the preparation and editing of reports and other deliverables
  • Managing contractual relationships with sub-contractors and associates
  • Managing the relationship between Adam Smith International, the beneficial client and the funding agency
  • Overseeing project logistics and domestic arrangements
  • Ensuring proper financial management of projects
  • Keeping the Project Director fully informed of progress and issues arising and supporting him/her in exercising project oversight and quality control
  • Client management and liaison
  • Working with the project Team Leader and Project Director to ensure effective delivery of assignment
  • Resolving disputes
  • Guiding projects through external reviews or audits
  • Overall accountability for project performance to the Senior Manager
  • Providing mentoring and back-stopping support to more junior team members
