We are seeking a Communications Officer (intern) to add to our busy team. Ideally we are seeking one person, but depending on applicant’s interests and experience we might hire two communications officers – one concentrating on external relations and the other on social media etc.

This is an exciting time to be involved: the success of the London and Haiti projects has led to significant coverage, and the focus for 2013 is on further expanding our media and social media profile.

Role:
The Communications Officer will work with the other members of the team to develop the organisation’s broad communications strategy.

Key responsibilities:
Oversee and develop ARCHIVE’s social media strategy.

Writing articles for a variety of publications.
Producing copy across all media, from comment pieces in international architecture and health journals to updates on social networking sites.

Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies.
Writing and giving presentations.
Building and managing relationships with external stakeholders.
Developing networks with media and community organisations covering health and housing issues in London and abroad.

Responding to inquiries from journalists in a timely and professional manner
Website updates
Assist ARCHIVE’s fundraising, research, and operations teams as required

Person specification:
Qualifications:
Degree in any discipline although some exposure to communications, PR, marketing, international development, architecture or related fields are desirable.

Knowledge, experience and skills required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience of using social media channels.
Knowledge of Photoshop / In-Design would be an asset though not required
Ability to think creatively to develop communication strategies with other team members.
Good time management, including ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and cope with a varied and changing workload.
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Package (especially Word and Powerpoint).
Enthusiastic team player.

Excellent computer skills.

About you:
You will be an enthusiastic and enterprising self-starter, passionate about communications yet keen to get involved with all operational aspects of a small international NGO. This position is ideal for anyone wishing to gain experience in charity communications or the International Development sector. You must be available for a minimum of 21 hours a week for a period of six months.

This is an unpaid internship, but travel expenses within London will be covered up to 10 pounds per day. Please note that we cannot sponsor Visas nor assists candidates in the process of obtaining one. We also do not offer relocation packages or reimburse relocation costs to London.
