As one of the recognised top-performing academy groups, ARK Schools is helping to raise standards and drive innovation across a rapidly-changing education landscape. 

We are seeking to establish an outstanding network of schools in London, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Hastings and currently have 27 academies open, with an aim to have 50 schools open by 2015. 

All ARK’s schools are situated in areas of high deprivation or educational need, and over half of our pupils are eligible for free school meals compared to 18% nationally. 10 of the 11 ARK academies inspected by Ofsted so far have been rated as good or outstanding. 

We are now seeking an outstanding individual to join our Projects team and help us to achieve our ambitious growth plans. You will manage all aspects of the pre-opening process and ensure that each school joins the network smoothly and effectively. 

You don’t need prior experience of working in schools – though an interest in education will clearly help – but you do need to be enthusiastic, dedicated and focused on delivery. 

We are welcoming candidates from all backgrounds.

Qualification Criteria

  • Qualified to degree level
  • Right to work in the UK.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in project management preferable but not essential
  • Interest in education policy

  • Flexible and highly organised
  • Able to multi task and prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Hard working, detail orientated, and systematic
  • Committed and generous team worker, to whom going above and beyond expectations for their colleagues is second nature
  • Able to demonstrate their commitment to the mission of improving educational opportunities for underprivileged children
  • Reflective and resilient
  • Political nous.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence when meeting external stakeholders
  • Good IT skills ideally including Microsoft Office, Excel and other MS programmes
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • A flexible approach to working.
