We are Athlete Lab and we run the next generation of high-performance cycling studios. Athlete Lab has been successful in Singapore and Sydney and it’s now time to bring it to the cycling capital of the world – London!

Working at Athlete Lab will give you the sense of working for a startup – you will be employee number 3 in the UK – but you will be working on a tried and tested concept, adapting it slightly to suit the British way of things.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Someone who is passionate about cycling, has competed or coached at a high level in either cycling or triathlon, and ideally has some previous coaching experience.
  • Someone who is a self-starter – as it is a start-up environment we are currently juggling a million balls at once – from property to hardware, graphic design to customer experience and social media. The job will keep changing and evolving, but that’s what makes it exciting, right? You will need to be happy to ‘muck-in’ to most areas.
  • Someone who is organised and whose best friend is the ‘Devil in the detail’.
  • Someone who is not looking for a ‘9-5’. The hours will be varied – the studio will open at 6am and close at 9pm, so you will work a mix of ‘earlies’ and ‘lates’
  • Someone who is not scared of sales….early days there will be lots of face-to-face time with new customers selling the cycling dream.
  • Someone really great with people and building relationships, as you’ll be managing many relationships both internally and externally.

Example Responsibilities - First 12 Months

  • Helping with the soft launch, follow-up and hard launch of Athlete Lab London
  • Writing and leading the coaching programmes and evolving the coaching methodology of the studio
  • Running and managing our studio – from setting up new customers on our bikes through to inducting them in our super-smart technology and ride programmes
  • Selling – closing sales with new customers, identifying and approaching new markets and opportunities
  • Contributing to marketing initiatives
  • Contributing to our strategy and executing our plan over the next 12-24 months, holding the whole team to plan in our critical first year
  • Helping to train junior staff

Example Attributes You Will Have

  • Love your bike! It’s a big part of why we all love Athlete Lab.
  • Problem Solver – always thinking of ways to ‘do things a bit better’.
  • You’re never late.
  • High quality on execution.
  • Super diligent – it’s incredibly hard to find a typo in your emails!
  • Creatively risk averse – would never cross the line but will find paths around it
  • Love what you’re doing - hard work or long hours come second to solving a problem.

What We Offer

  • Be one of the very first UK team members at Athlete Lab!  Have a real say and influence in how the company grows in the UK.
  • This role has a clear progression to potentially become General Manager and lead your own studio once we expand to new locations (we’re targeting 4-5 in London over the next 2-3 years).
  • Ownership of large areas of responsibility within a rapidly growing, small company, with a fraction of the bureaucracy of a big one.
  • You would be joining us at the most exciting time - just before we launch, things will go nuts from there and it will be all-hands-on-deck for the ride.
  • A chance to work for a company doing something really exciting and innovative at a critical and rapidly growing time in the cycling industry.
