The Awethu Project partners with talented entrepreneurs from under-resourced backgrounds to build powerful businesses.
What is our culture like?
Awethans hail from top South African universities and Ivy League Business Schools - with work experience from Fortune 500 Blue Chip corporations and several successful startup ventures under our collective team's belt.
We've gone from a 2-man staff contingent at the beginning of 2012, to over 50 full timers by August 2013... and we're still growing!
This fabulous team of intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs work towards enterprise development and economic stimulation in SA on a daily basis. And we're having fun while doing it...
In 2011, Awethu was recognised as one of the most visionary social enterprises in the world by the Echoing Green Foundation in New York, which assessed 2854 organisations from over 100 countries before selecting Awethu as one of its Fellows.
In 2012, Awethu was selected as one of the first 20 beneficiaries out of over 3000 applicants to the South African Government’s Jobs Fund - and we are on track to meet (and exceed) our Jobs Fund target of incubating 500 Entrepreneurs by the end of 2013.
We're committed to creating at least one new job per incubated business, within the next year... while partnering with even more talented Entrepreneurs in 2014. Watch this space!
What can we offer Escapees?
