Job Specification  

  1. Financial Management
    1. Working with the project manager, help maintain financial trackers and accurate budgets across all aspects of the organisation
    2. Research new international money transfer options to in a bid to reduce transaction costs.
  2. Business Development
    1. Help in the development of AZLera’s future business model and business case needed to enable AZLera to grow sustainably, whilst maintaining established success in place at Projecto Oceano
    2. Generate new links and relationships with related organisation and institutions in Mozambique and internationally.
  3. Marketing
    1. Build and develop appropriate marketing materials that can be shared publically with potential donors outlining the focus and goal of AZLera.
    2. Make effective use of social media and communications to raise awareness and interest in AZLera’s education model and approach


  • Work with the internal fundraising lead to develop AZLera’s 3-year fundraising strategy.
  • Support  on-going fundraising initiatives, including:

                                          i.    Public events

                                         ii.    Grant applications

                                        iii.    Private donors

                                        iv.    Marketing and sponsorship

Board of Trustees

  • Support in the establishment of a ‘Board of Trustees’ for AZLera.  
  • Generate a short list of 5-10 suitable candidates who could improve the perception and legitimacy of AZLera’s work.
  • Work with the team to develop specific roles and responsibilities for the board.


  • Lead on the recruitment of international volunteers, short term project staff and technical expert working in Mozambique

Other Responsibilities

  • Miscellaneous items as needed from time to time including support with programme management.


The services may be performed via telephone, email or other forms of remote correspondence, and may include meetings with personnel and other consultants at times and locations to be mutually agreed upon.

Duration – 5 days a month for 6 months (option to extend pending performance appraisal)

Start Date – March 2014

 Language required – English (competency in Portuguese and Spanish a strong advantage)
