BBC Television is looking to recruit an experienced and talented Business Manager for Comedy & Entertainment. You will be a key member of the genre leadership team – showing a genuine appreciation and passion for our content and genres plus a talent for supporting complex business areas through a transformational change agenda.
We’ve created 3 new genres
- Comedy & Entertainment
- Knowledge & Daytime
- Drama, Films & Acquisitions
And we’ve appointed new Controllers of Business who will work in partnership with Commissioning and Production to deliver a more integrated and strategic approach to genre funding, rights management and in-house production.
As Business Manager for Comedy and Entertainment you’ll provide first class business support to the Controller of Business. Your principle focus will be maintaining a comprehensive overview of the genre business: not only its structure and processes but also ensuring strong business relationships within the BBC (across Commissioning, Production, Corporate and Commercial functions). Each genre Controller of Business is being challenged to ensure the overall business health and success of the genre while balancing the need to meet financial, location and supplier quotas and targets. The Business Manager will be a key player in this. With responsibility for
• interpreting, reporting and forecasting management information for the genre leadership team;
• coordinating the genre’s strategic activities;
• driving the planning and monitoring agenda for the genre
• maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders and
• partnering with Finance to ensure investment cases are clearly articulated and approved.
In addition you’ll refine existing processes – effectively streamlining the genre’s operation and drive the successful implementation of a cohesive operating model.
You will be passionate about our business and have an interest and awareness of the genre. You will have a strong understanding of finance and commissioning processes with the capability to work with complex financial data Therefore, you’ll have excellent IT, office, administrative, strategic, and project planning skills.
You’ll have substantial experience of managing through change, managing governance structures, budgeting and financial forecasting. To be successful you’ll possess excellent planning and organising skills with the ability to build key stakeholder relationships.
