About BBOXX

Our existing product range of solar kits is currently sold for a one off payment to customers and is considered to be one of the broadest and highest quality offerings in the market.

Starting in 2014, we will be selling our products on payment plans to make our kits more affordable. We are currently working to re-develop the product range so that the systems can be remotely monitored/controlled. This will allow us to gather detailed use profiles and data on battery lifetime and control the products in the field to allow customers to afford our larger systems on payment plans.

We expect to be rolling out these systems in pilot phase from November 2013 and you will join the team responsible for developing this initial product. In the longer term we expect the product range to continually develop and you play a large role in driving forward this development and ensuring BBOXX stays ahead of the competition in terms of product quality and customer satisfaction.

The Role:

The key responsibilities will include developing embedded software for a broad range of solar home systems and accessories for developing countries.

Most development will be focused on battery charge control algorithms, communication systems for remote monitoring and control. Experience of working with solar systems is not essential as you be working closely with other engineers with experience of this.

Some development of server side applications may be required. You will be working closely with Hardware development teams in the UK and Production Engineers in China as well as external partners based worldwide.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Specifications for embedded systems which will include working with other engineering teams (both internal and external)
  • Implementation, Verification and User Testing of software in Solar Kits
  • Reviewing and suggesting improvements to current code base used in products.
  • Planning release time-frames and possibly managing some outsourced development

The desirable skills for a candidate include:

  • Embedded C/C++
  • Cortex M series Experience
  • M2M Experience

You will be based in the London office but may travel to China or Africa occasionally to visit production facilities and end customers.
