Ben & Jerry's was founded in 1978 in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, USA, by childhood friends and dedicated activists Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. They had a burning desire to create a business that would not only be profitable, but would also give back to the community in which they operated. Their aim is (& always has been!) to make the best possible ice cream, in the nicest possible way. The company was founded on the sustainable concept of linked prosperity, and to this day strives to create impact for all communities they are involved with through Values Led Sourcing, reducing their environmental footprint and actively campaigning on issues of social and environmental justice with its fun and irreverent attitude. As Jerry always said “If it’s not fun, why do it?”
Ben & Jerry’s invites you to the finale of its Sundae School series on Monday 3rd June, where two of the UK’s most successful female entrepreneurs from the world of fashion and beauty will share their secrets over ice cream as they seek to inspire and unearth tomorrow’s ethical business superstars.
Bringing the curtain down will be Liz Earle of Liz Earle Cosmetics, who’ll be joined by Fairtrade pioneer and founder of People Tree, Safia Minney.
Held on weeknights – not Sundays! - Sundae School is a series of three intimate, interactive workshops where the public can meet and tap into the UK’s top ethical business brains. Attendees will get to network and take part in a panel Q&A, where a few lucky guests will get the chance to pitch their dream business idea to our business stars.
Pitch To Your Hero competition
All guests are invited to submit in no more than 140 characters (the same as a tweet) their dream business idea. The best three entries will get to pitch their proposal to our expert panel in person on the night, getting personal feedback, hints and tips – along with scooping a year’s supply of ice-cream. So get pitching if you want to win!
Sundae School’s ‘Fashion & Beauty’ event will be held at The Book Club, 100-106 Leonard St, London EC2A 4RH, on Monday 3rd June, with ice cream and refreshments at 6.30pm before the event starts at 7pm.
We hope to see you there!
