Ben & Jerry's

Ben & Jerry's

Ben & Jerry's

Ben & Jerry's was founded in 1978 in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, USA, by childhood friends and dedicated activists Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. They had a burning desire to create a business that would not only be profitable, but would also give back to the community in which they operated. Their aim is (& always has been!) to make the best possible ice cream, in the nicest possible way. The company was founded on the sustainable concept of linked prosperity, and to this day strives to create impact for all communities they are involved with through Values Led Sourcing, reducing their environmental footprint and actively campaigning on issues of social and environmental justice with its fun and irreverent attitude. As Jerry always said “If it’s not fun, why do it?”

Ben & Jerry's are all about making the best possible ice cream in the nicest possible way. Ben always used to describe the organisation as a 'values-led company' rather than a brand, and our unique Social Mission drives our goal to create positive change in the world to this day! From our chunky Fairtrade ice cream, to our campaigning for happy cows in Europe, we're all about doing the right thing in a fun, irreverent way. As Jerry used to say "if it's not fun, why do it?!"

Our European office is a team of 12 based in a barn full of clouds and fields, just outside London, and is responsible for developing the medium-long term strategy for the company across 18 European countries, in order to execute our unique three part Mission Statement.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced communications professional to come join us at the Barn and spread peace, love & ice cream to Europe! The European PR Superstar will need to oversee and coordinate communication plans for the company’s 5 key markets in Europe (with a chunky UK focus), and align with Ben & Jerry’s global PR plans where ever our ice cream business exists throughout the world.

All the nitty gritty details of the role are available here! To apply click below.

As a brief overview, some responsibilities include:

  • Plan, develop and implement our PR strategy, bringing a slice of creativity to the process!
  • Ensure our three part mission is brought to life in a fun and engaging way for our fans in Europe.
  • Participate in large scale media and marketing campaigns, as well as engaging in grass roots initiatives staying true to our humble beginnings!
  • Develop media relationships.
  • Coordinating local PR agencies across Europe.

We're looking for an experienced communications professional with at least 5 years experience working within the corporate, social enterprise or charity sector. It is vital to have demonstrated a passion to create positive change in the world through personal and/or professional experience, as well as the ability to build strong peer relationships!

We even have fellow Escapees at the Barn, so would be delighted to hear from anyone in the Escape the City network!
