Are you looking for an exciting adventure in a remote and beautiful part of the world? Are you a Researcher, AP, Producer, Director, Editor or Camera Operator with experience in the film and television industry? Are you a Media Studies or Film/TV Production student or graduate looking for that all-important experience in the field to kick-start your career?

Film Africa, a new initiative to bring the power of film-making to rural communities in East Africa, is looking for adventurous, open-minded people with a range of film & television production skills and experience.

This project is being run by Big Beyond, a leading volunteer organisation based in southwest Uganda, working with local people on a range of projects designed to empower and self-sustain the community as a whole.

The key aims of
Film Africa are:

  • To teach film-making skills to the local community, empowering them to create their own content
  • To facilitate the screening of both local and international films to the community, for educational and other purposes

We're looking for people keen to volunteer their production skills to train and mentor budding local Ugandan film-makers, and to facilitate the making of local films by helping produce, direct, write, film and edit pieces about issues that affect the local community - e.g. health, conservation, education, tourism, business and cultural themes.

Working in a remote area with limited equipment and facilities, Film Africa offers an exciting challenge for anyone who wants to see how film-making can make a difference at a real "grassroots" level.

Whether you're a media student who wants to get crucial "hands on" production experience, a seasoned film/TV professional with 20+ years in the industry, or if you're passionate film enthusiast, Film Africa needs your skills!
