Big Issue Invest Ltd (BII) is a specialist provider of finance to social enterprises. Wholly owned by The Big Issue magazine, BII is led by social entrepreneurs and staffed by social financiers. BII finances social enterprises throughout the UK, including the trading arms of charities, non-profit distributing firms and, on an exceptional basis, socially driven, for-profit businesses. BII has an ongoing social enterprise loan program and also manages a distinct Social Enterprise Investment Fund (SEIF) which will channel third party investment into risk capital investments in high growth UK social enterprises.

Big Issue Invest is looking for an experienced Finance Director for this exciting and dynamic time of its development. We are one of the pioneers in social investment – a rapidly growing area both in the UK and internationally – and have the unique advantage of have one of the most well-known brands in the UK. Our mission is to finance sustainable social enterprises which are preventing and dismantling poverty and inequality.

BII is at an important stage of growth and development and is seeking to recruit an experienced Finance Director. S/he will play a leading role in BII’s next phase of development. The role would especially suit individuals who are interested in a career change from the mainstream finance sector who want to put their skills and knowledge to use in the social investment sector.

This is envisaged to be a part time position (2-3 days a week), although an initial full-time period may be required and the position may become full-time as the company grows.
