Big Issue Invest (“BII”) is the social investment arm of The Big Issue and recognised as one of the UK’s leading and most innovative social investment organisations. Our mission is to back social enterprises, charities and ventures that help tackle poverty and inequality. We provide finance from £50,000 to £1 million from early stage to growth capital. We also provide investment opportunities for investors looking for financial and social returns.

Since 2005, we have raised and invested over £20 million, supporting over 170 social enterprises to improve the quality of life in Britain’s poorest communities. To date, the organisations we have invested in have directly benefited over 1.7 million individuals, sustained 3,200 in employment, and trained over 14,000 people.

We are now seeking a credible, experienced and dynamic leader who is passionate about social impact investment. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of achievement whilst working in the financial services sector, with hands on experience of fund management and direct investment. The CEO will be an experienced executive with demonstrable commercial and investment judgement, a natural business developer with the ability to build networks and leverage them effectively to create new opportunities.

The CEO will be expected to be an ambassador for BII and will have strong personal impact with the ability to communicate clearly, confidently and sensitively in order to implement our strategic vision. He or she should demonstrate an understanding of the drivers behind social impact investment. Managing this very small but growing organisation, you will lead on strategic, operational and organisational processes whilst instilling a culture of ambition and motivation.
