Overall Purpose of the Role:

Big Society Capital has 2 primary roles, social investor and market champion. The purpose of this position is to work alongside and support the Head of Marketing in increasing the understanding and activity of financial organisations in the social investment market. This relates largely to the market champion role.

You will be a self-starter, responsible for building relationships and maintaining 2 way dialogue with financial institutions.

You will spot new opportunities to introduce social investment to institutions, build a network of fellow champions, share research and best practice and manage the information flow to potential financial partners.

Other Requirements:

  • Interest in social Investment or impact investment more generally and motivated to help to build a more responsible investment market
  • A good understanding of Financial Institutions, their internal structures and decision making processes
  • Strong stakeholder and inter-personal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with key individuals in Financial Institutions and Social Investment universe more generally
  • Represent BSC at financial sector events
  • Understand institutions’ core business and identify opportunities to align their interests with those of the social investment sector
  • Identify barriers and work with BSC to resolve


  • 5 years + with financial institutions
  • Knowledge and experience of Banking /Financial Services
  • Excellent client relationship management skills together with well-developed business development skills.
  • Excellence in oral and written communication with proven strength for personal engagement.
  • Strong presenting experience
  • Social Sector/Charity Sector/SIO experience



Able to liaise with all levels of external contacts - junior members of staff through to CEO’s.

Special Aptitudes

The ability to understand and synthesise the social investment product set and to compare/contrast with mainstream financial investment opportunities.
