First and foremost Brown + Hudson Trip Planners have deep-rooted destination knowledge. They are well-travelled and have personal and substantial destination experience. 

You will have a demonstrated talent for thinking conceptually, creatively and with uncommon originality. Exploring beyond the obvious and escaping from the ordinary are essential tools when crafting a Brown + Hudson journey. 

Gifted with the rare combination of an ability to see the bigger picture and an obsessive attention to detail, you will be able to work like a journalist digging deeper to find unique insights. Anything is possible and you will be one to make it happen.

Other attributes you have will include being able to visualise a journey, plot out its various elements in exceptional detail and then describe it in intelligent well-crafted prose.  In essence you should be able to imagine and tell a richer and inspiring travel story that is personal to each client.

Fluency in more than one language is advantageous for this role. The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated, passionate and talented individual, financially and numerically competent, and possessed of an entrepreneurial mind set. 

Of course we also like colleagues to have the same infectious enthusiasm, curiosity, determination and ability to remain calm under pressure that we expect from Brown + Hudson guides in the field.

Lastly, beyond having substantial destination knowledge, you should be acquainted with the luxury and adventure travel realm and have a clear understanding of the expectations of our most demanding international clientele. 

We consider consider candidates both with and without prior travel business experience. In fact if you have huge destination knowledge and no prior travel business experience you may be at an advantage.

Job Description – Trip Planner Asia

With a regional responsibility for Asia you will manage the trip planning for Brown + Hudson bespoke trips in this region.

Specifically this entails:

  • Receiving clients’ brief
  • Conducting extensive published or online research required to develop client trip concepts
  • Briefing local partners to develop itineraries that meet our clients’ brief
  • Writing trip concepts in response to a client or media enquiry
  • Analyzing & refining local partner proposals and quotations
  • Pricing Brown + Hudson experiences
  • Corresponding and communicating with clients by phone and email
  • On occasions meeting with clients to present itineraries
  • Writing finished itineraries and designing bespoke client documents to a high standard
  • Liaising with local partners and clients to refine itineraries or address cost issues
  • Trip management and guide liaison whilst clients are on trip
  • For “guided experiences” writing Brown + Hudson guide materials (route manual and trip
  • overview) for each experience planned
  • Briefing local partners and Brown + Hudson guides prior to each trip

Whilst your primary regional responsibility will be for Asia you will be expected to be sufficiently flexible to assist with client management and trip planning on projects in other regions.


 Product Management & Marketing

 You will:

  • be responsible for building Brown + Hudson’s knowledge base (photography, destination intelligence, country overviews etc.)  and managing local partner relationships in your area of regional expertise.
  • liaise with our local partners, regional tourism boards to create travel concepts and content that our marketing department could promote through our PR agency, the press, our website, affiliates, directly to clients or through the Little Brown Book of Travel.
  • create destination content with which to update our website
  • liaise with Tourism Boards to elicit financial support for specific marketing initiatives and events.
  • be responsible for monitoring competitive activity in your area of regional responsibility.
  • represent Brown + Hudson at industry events and trade shows.
  • attend marketing events we might participate in          


New Business Development

We encourage each Trip Planner to think of their region as their own business unit. With an entrepreneurial and marketing mindset you will:

  • Be proactive in developing new business opportunities (attending events, gallery openings etc.)
  • Initiate contact and pursue the relationship until conversion
  • Develop new business initiatives or events focused on your area of regional expertise
  • Achieve predetermined new business targets

We imagine that the time split 70% Trip Planning / Operations and 30% New Business Development.

General Destination Research

Occasionally opportunities may arise to research new regions to deepen Brown + Hudson’s knowledge there. You would be expected to travel there to conduct the in-country research personally.

Familiarization Trips

On occasions Brown + Hudson may seek or be invited to join familiarization trips in different parts of the world. The role may require you to travel to participate in those.

Brown + Hudson is a rapidly growing business and we fully expect to involve you in areas of the business that do not relate directly to Trip Planning.

Contract: Full time

Holiday: 20 days paid holiday per annum + the usual public holidays in England

Location: The position is based at Brown + Hudson, 85 Barlby Road, London, W10 6BL United Kingdom. From time to time the role will require international travel for attendance at travel trade shows, to meet with foreign partners or for research and guiding purposes.
