Carbon Tracker has been set up to align the capital markets with the climate change agenda. Its analysis of unburnable carbon, stranded assets, and wasted capital has reframed the debate around climate change risk.

We are seeking an enthusiastic communications professional who can develop and implement a strategy across media and public affairs. This will build on the growing media profile, research outputs and advocacy activities of Carbon Tracker. 


  • Developing a media strategy to build relationships with key journalists and outlets to reach target audiences to maximise opportunities for Carbon Tracker
  • Producing press materials and selling in stories based on Carbon Tracker outputs
  • Co-ordinating engagement with relevant officials and regulatory bodies to put Carbon Tracker’s issues on the agenda
  • Ensuring Carbon Tracker has an effective online presence
  • Liaising with partner organisations to co-ordinate communications activities
  • Seeking opportunities to raise the profile of Carbon Tracker, eg speaking opportunities, events
  • Delivering quality control on outputs and communications


  • Experience of a range of media and political activities
  • Track record of achieving media coverage
  • A strong network of communications professionals and service providers
  • Familiarity with communications systems and monitoring success
  • A commitment to the objective of Carbon Tracker to align capital markets with climate change objectives
  • Understanding of financial audiences
  • The ability to manage workload and plan outputs
  • Experience of working with partner organisations (e.g. research organisations, financial institutions, NGOs)

Location: London
Reports to: Engagement Director
Terms: Initial 12 month contract, package worth from £26k to £31k depending on experience
Contract type: Full or part-time depending on experience
