Project length:
8-12 weeks
Organisation summary:
Because the majority of Jakarta is close to/below sea level, it is difficult or impossible to install conventional drainage and sewerage systems. The close confines of Jakarta’s low income housing also make the use of conventional waste extraction trucks impossible.
Our partner organisation has developed an innovative business and technological solution that uses small, handcart sized tankers to remove sewage from micro septic tanks. They currently require an experienced fundraiser or grant writer to join them.
Job description:
Based in Jakarta for 8-12 weeks, the successful volunteer would help this social enterprise to attain funding required to address the city’s poor sanitation and human waste removal services. The role will involve writing proposals and grant applications.
Requirements:
- Experience raising funds through grant writing, particularly to institutional donors
- Experience of the support criteria emplaced by international NGOs
- Business planning and strategy skills would also be an asset
Although unpaid, all expenses will be covered by Challenges and our partner organisation. Challenges Worldwide provides return flights, insurance, inoculations, in-country accommodation and transport. You will also receive a daily stipend for meals and subsistence.
