Over the last 17 years we have provided approximately £30 million worth of onsite business support to around 2,000 growth businesses in 40 countries. This has included support for businesses to access over £30 million investment while generating several million in trade linkages. We have seen increased revenues for our supported enterprises leading to increased employment opportunities in our markets.
We invest professional time, energy and skills where others don’t and where the potential for impact is highest, strengthening small businesses and helping them to grow.

We provide an intelligent mix of services to SMEs working in agriculture, renewable energy access, health, education, affordable housing, IT, and financial services.

We identify business opportunities and help to develop and implement viable business plans.
Our global network of professionals makes a real and lasting impact across the world – we transfer professional skills to achieve results, strengthening local organisations and businesses to enable sustainable growth. To date, Challenges Worldwide has successfully placed hundreds of professionals in capacity building roles across 35 countries, helping to grow over a thousand organisations.

Challenges Worldwide ICS

Challenges Worldwide ICS (International Citizen Service) is a development programme led by VSO and funded by the UK Government. It brings together young people to fight poverty in developing countries.

Challenges Worldwide ICS is a once in a lifetime volunteering opportunity open to all 18-25-year-olds. It’s your chance to spend 12 weeks living and working in an African city. You will be part of a team of UK and local volunteers empowering small-medium sized enterprises to seize their future and create lasting sustainable change within their communities.

You don’t need cash or qualifications to take part, just the ambition to make a difference.

What can Challenges Worldwide ICS offer Escapees?

As a Challenges Worldwide ICS volunteer, you will work with businesses and enterprises to help them grow so they can provide a fair income and one day employ others and improve the local economy.

We believe that everyone should be able to earn a decent living and become self – sufficient, because no one wants to rely on charity or aid. A secure income is the first step to ending the cycle of poverty and building the local economy.

A key aim of the Challenges Worldwide ICS programme is to help build people’s skills so they can get a job after their placement – we are committed to the personal and professional growth of our volunteers. Because of this, we have developed our programme around a level 5 in Professional Consulting accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
