Voluntary –  c. 1.5 - 2 days per month

Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey

The Neuro Foundation speaks for and supports people suffering from neurofibromatosis. This debilitating condition can express itself through, for instance, mild skin disorders to tumours in the nervous system, hearing loss, deafness and mobility problems.

Our work is vital in helping raise awareness of the condition and in supporting those who have been diagnosed and their families. We provide a small team of specialist medical advisors working around the country in hospitals so that people are able to get the support and information they need as quickly as possible. The Foundation is regarded as the authoritative voice on neurofibromatosis in the UK.

In addition to our medical advisors we have a small staff and volunteer team based in Kingston Upon Thames, and a supportive and involved group of Trustees – mostly full time professionals with a personal or family connection to the condition.

We’re looking for a Chair to come and help us. The current Chair, Richard Taylor, has been in post for four years and as Trustee for six. The organization is small but financially stable and keen to strengthen its key roles of service, support and information provision.

You’ll probably already have experience of working on a voluntary board and ideally with a medical charity. We’re keen to find a Chair who is able to support and advise the staff team, help set the strategy and in particular provide the commercial understanding necessary to help secure its long term future.
