ClearlySo has grown rapidly since being founded in 2008 and is now one of the market leaders in its rapidly expanding and challenging field and now has 15 members in the team with diverse backgrounds in finance, venture capital, social enterprise and other fields. 

In recognition of this growth and the increasing complexity of its business, they have decided to appoint a full-time Chief Financial Officer; responsible for all financial, legal, regulatory and compliance matters in the firm. 

The successful candidate will be a member of the senior management team (SMT), and will report to the CEO. The CFO will help to guide and control the firm, with a specific emphasis on financial management, planning and compliance.  

Main areas of responsibility

  • Responsible for end-to-end financial management of the company and all statutory and regulatory reporting
  • Manage the annual budget and planning process and prepare documents for the Board
  • Lead the Company in its internal analysis of performance and take responsibility for reporting on KPIs and other key indicators
  • Maintain regular contact with all investors, in particular the lead investor, Big Society Capital
  • Manage relations with relevant external counter parties, including: Banks, lawyers and accountants HR, Payroll and Staff administration  Legal & Compliance - Ensure the Company’s legal affairs are in good order
  •  Maintain all legal contracts with clients and key counter parties
  • Ensure compliance with all FCA and other requirements
  • Liaise with external consultants to establish smooth processes and procedures
  • Be responsible for supervising compliance monitoring of client relations   

Required/Desired Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Accountant with outstanding financial skills
  • Ability to contribute to strategic discussions and play a key role within the Senior Management Team
  • Experience in a regulated environment is desirable but not necessarily in Financial Services
  • Experience in working with Legal contracts is essential
  • Willingness to be part of a business still in its early stages of development and able to deal with the relative uncertainty that comes with it
  • A hands-on approach is a must
  • A keen interest in social enterprise and/or impact investment would be an advantage.
