The business has grown rapidly since it was founded in late 2008 and is now one of the market leaders within an expanding and challenging field.

In recognition of this growth and the increasing complexity of its business, ClearlySo has decided to appoint a full-time Chief Financial Officer; responsible for all financial, legal, regulatory and compliance matters of the firm.

With 15 members in the team, ClearlySo comprises professionals from a range of backgrounds including finance, venture capital and social enterprise.

The successful candidate will be a member of the senior management team (SMT), joining three other professionals, including the CEO, to whom he/she will report. Working with the other members, the CFO will help to guide and control the firm, with a specific emphasis on financial management, planning and compliance.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Responsible for day-to-day financial management of the company and all relevant internal and external reports
  • Manage the annual budget and planning process and prepare documents for the Board
  • Lead the Company in its internal analysis of performance and take responsibility for reporting on KPIs and other key indicators
  • Maintain regular contact with all investors, in particular our lead investor, Big Society Capital
  • Manage relations with relevant external counterparties, including: Banks, lawyers and accountants


  • Ensure the Company’s legal affairs are in good order
  • Maintain all legal contracts with clients and key counterparties


  • Ensure ClearlySo is compliant with all FCA and other requirements
  • Liaise with external consultants to establish smooth processes and procedures
  • Be responsible for supervising compliance monitoring of client relations

Required/Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Impeccable record of integrity in business dealings
  • Outstanding financial skills with relevant professional qualifications
  • Strong organisational orientation combined with a commitment to high standards
  • Ability to challenge effectively within the senior management team
  • Experience in a regulated environment is essential; financial sector background a great plus
  • Experience in working with legal contracts is essentia
  • Willingness to be part of a business still in its early stages of development—an experience in such an
    environment would be a significant positive
  • Interest in social enterprise and/or impact investment an advantage, but not essential

Our office hours are 9am to 6pm and our offices are 20-24 Old Street, EC1V 9AB.
