ClearlySo is a leading Social Investment financial intermediary, providing corporate finance advisory and capital raising services to social enterprises and impact investors.

The successful candidates will form a core part of this small but entrepreneurial and rapidly growing organisation, with exposure to all aspects of the capital raising process and the wider social investment sector.

Main areas of responsibility

The successful candidate will:

  • Undertake an initial assessment of proposed clients / transactions in conjunction with the Origination team;
  • Review historic financial performance and financial projections to assess viability of business/proposed financial transaction
  • Build a financial model to value the business and/or evaluate the proposed transaction using a variety of metrics including DCF, comparable company/transaction analysis etc.
  • Contribute to the writing/assessment of business plans, pitch materials and financial projections, and work with enterprises to help them become investment-ready;
  • Contribute to social/environmental impact analysis
  • Consider the appropriate structure of the financing/transaction, creating innovative solutions across debt, equity and quasi-equity instruments
  • Facilitate and assist in due diligence undertaken by potential investors
  • Participate in the negotiation of terms and execution of the transaction, including project management of the deal completion process
  • Attend client and investor meetings, with exposure to all aspects of the capital raising process and acting as a key contact for all parties (including clients and professional advisors);
  • Produce briefing notes and undertake research into core sectors and investment themes
  • Develop a network of contacts and interact with peers and key stakeholders across the sector
  • Play a key role in the wider ClearlySo business, including attendance at commitment committees.

Required/Desired Skills and Experience

A successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in a consulting, venture capital, private equity, or financial advisory services firm, or investment banking
  • Experience of structuring and executing financial transactions (debt, equity etc) for early stage, growth and/or established small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Experience in building financial models with integrated financial statements to assess debt capacity and valuations of businesses, and layering in capital structure adjustments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels and manage multiple stakeholders through a transaction
  • Project management and problem solving skills, including the ability to think creatively to structure deals and manage multiple work streams in parallel
  • Commitment to the social sector, combined with the ambition and resilience to join a small but entrepreneurial team in a new and rapidly growing sector.

The role is a full time position and is based in London, although may occasionally involve travel within the UK.
