crees is a not-for-profit charitable organisation working to bring economic, social and environmental harmony to the Manu region of Peru. crees has been working in the region for over a decade and have set up many projects from conservation research to sustainable community initiatives all of which have had a real and lasting impact on the people living there. Central to this role is the communication of this work to the outside world.

The role will be based from the crees office in London. The main focus of this role will be to gather all the content that is produced in the field by our resident Rainforest Journalist who is based at our lodge in the Peruvian Amazon. Once this material has been sorted and organised it then needs to be edited, then the content needs to be used to create and produce inspiring material which can be marketed across all our social media outlets, The role with also involve the creation of other marketing material as required. The role is hugely important as it provides the platform by which we are able to tell the crees¡¦ story from Peru over here in the UK through our volunteer, tour and research operations.

Ideal candidates will have a passion for sustainable development and a general interest in conservation. You will also have previous experience of producing and managing engaging content for social media platforms as well as creation of newsletters and other relevant marketing material such as adverts, posters, flyers. You will need to be a self-starter who can think on your feet and have excellent time management working to deadlines. You will need to be an excellent communicator as you will be working closely with the Rainforest Journalist who is based from our lodge in the Peruvian Amazon where internet access can be challenging which therefore requires patience and persistence.


Basic Requirements:

  • Must have own laptop
  • Must be available to start in Jan/Feb 2014


Required Skills:

  • Ideal candidates will be educated to graduate level or have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • First hand experience of using all social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Blogs
  • Experience in developing social media content to engage different audiences and create conversations
  • Experience in writing creative, clear and factually accurate material
  • Confident formulating and implementing content strategies with minimal supervision
  • Ability to create both fun and serious content
  • Have a real can-do attitude and be a self-starter


Additional Information

  • 6 month Internship contract
  • Salary - £225.00 per month in expenses for lunch and travel.
