  • Are you interested in political risk, corporate responsibility, sustainability and development issues?

We are seeking a high calibre candidate for a unique full-time opportunity, to support us in managing the future growth of our company. This will be suitable for a recent graduate or someone with several years of relevant working experience.  
A bright spark is required to start in the week commencing December 2nd 2013 (potentially earlier if the right candidate is found). They will work closely with Critical Resource’s Business Development Manager to oversee our rapidly growing network of current and potential clients, and to generally help build external awareness of our business.


The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute in various ways to our continued growth.

This will include tasks such as:

  • carrying out research into socio-political issues around resource projects in preparation for calls and meetings with clients and potential clients
  • helping to develop materials for external dissemination, and participating where appropriate in calls and meetings;
  • organizing and managing key business development events and functions    
  • researching articles for publication on our website, email Bulletin or potentially in international media;


The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake a set of essential administrative tasks, including maintaining our internal CRM database of client interactions, scheduling calls and meetings, checking information, and updating our website.

With the exception of the administrative tasks, the work will be challenging and intellectually engaging, and involve research on a globally-important set of issues. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to gain experience in all aspects of business development, particularly in the corporate responsibility / political risk field, in an environment highly supportive of your learning and professional development. 

Initially for one year contract (renewable), including 3 months probationary period.


The ideal candidate will have:


  • A strong academic record from a leading university (equivalent of a high 2:1 or 1st undergraduate degree).
  • A highly diligent and thorough approach to work.
  • An entrepreneurial approach, and ability to work independently
  • Professional approach, reliability and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent writing ability in English; and strong communication skills
  • A strong interest in global business trends, political / international issues, and the intersection between the two
  • A prior knowledge of the natural resource industries (although not a requirement)
  • Prior experience in business development (although not a requirement)
  • Strong analytical and research skills; ability to quickly grasp and dissect complex issues
  • High ethical integrity, commitment to confidentiality
  • Good IT skills, including familiarity with PowerPoint & Excel
