Due to exponential growth Crowdcube now requires a highly experienced and accomplished CFO to provide both operational and programmatic support. The CFO will report directly to the CEO (Co-Founder) and directly assist on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, securing new funding, cost benefit analysis and forecasting needs.

Lead Financial Systems and Internal Controls

  • Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute growth plans
  • Overall responsibility for the Financial Function, adopting a hands-on approach
  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization
  • Review all financial reports prior to 3rd party consumption
  • Monitor banking activities of the organization

Constructive Relationship with the Board

  • Attend Board meetings; ensuring transparency/accuracy of information provided
  • Ensure there is a good corporate governance in place

Cultivates Relationships with Existing Financing Sources

  • Ensure close links with current finance providers are maintained
  • To build a strong rapport with current and prospective investors for the purpose of fundraising

Cultivates Relationships with External Industrial Advisors

  • Develop and maintain links with financial / industry analysts
  • Gain in-depth understanding of industry trends from financial / commercial perspective
  • Provide clear advice and guidance to senior management and Board on key trends and market developments and how best to position Crowdcube in order to maximise market opportunity

Drives Major Strategic Issues/Serve as a Business Advisor

  • Ensure that quality is a way of doing business
  • Achieve close working relationship with CEO and coFounders
  • Keep up to date with current financial regulations to ensure the management team are advised of risks and responsibilities



  • Operating at Board level within an early stage business
  • Working with the CEO, management peers and demonstrating organisational leadership
  • Leading a finance function within a financial services OR digital/technology organisation 
  • Driving functional and organisational change management programme to successful outcome
  • VC fundraising experience


  • IPO/Transaction  experience
  • Previous experience working within a high-growth FinTech start-up
  • Personal skills required:  
  • Excellent commercial acumen and clear influencing skills.
  • Able to build effective relationships internally and externally, strong networking presence and key industry player.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation, listening skills)
  • Results driven financial planning and evidence of budget management expertise.
  • Self-motivated, pragmatic, diligent, credible, and detail-conscious and focused on delivery against objectives. 


You’ll need to be educated to Degree level (min 2:1) or equivalent, ideally in a relevant subject.
