This is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial role with a positive social impact. The scale and ambition of the whole Start-Up Loans initiative makes this a unique challenge. If targets are met there will be opportunities for travel as we seek to replicate the initiative abroad.

About This Opportunity

We are a social enterprise, set up by students in 2006 to tackle the lack of diversity within many industries. We officially launched in 2008, and currently deliver a number of contracts, including the government’s Start-Up Loans initiative (EN Campaigns Ltd is the new commercial arm of the Elevation Networks Trust).

We have so far given loans to over 300 young entrepreneurs, and are looking to invest in another 2000 young people across the country over the next year, averaging approx 40 loans a week. We have offices in London and Nottingham.

We are now looking to further enhance our delivery of Start-Up Loans and are looking for a Start-up Business Analyst that can add value to the current team with their knowledge and experience. We want someone that is looking for a challenge like this; an opportunity to make a difference whilst using the skills they have developed over the years.

Background and job purpose

The company is looking for an ambitious and talented Start-up Business Analyst to join the team. We are looking for someone with a mix of finance and business experience.

You must possess a high attention to detail and have sound knowledge of credit assessment. Working in this environment the successful candidate needs to be able to work autonomously and be results-driven with a demonstrable track record of self-generated success.  The role will be based in our London office, but travel may be required.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Network Manager, your role will include:

  • Assessing the viability of business plans and helping them to reach a high level before assessment;
  • Ensuring all required data and information is provided to make informed lending decisions;
  • Supporting applicants, and providing group tutorials where needed;
  • Meeting weekly targets whilst ensuring overall quality of applications are maintained
  • Constantly reviewing and improving systems that are being used for our Start-Up Loans delivery
  • Undertaking other tasks as directed by the line manager

Knowledge and experience

  • Strong experience of analysing financial data and key performance indicators
  • Well-developed analytical skills including the ability to assimilate complex information, identify and prioritise key issues
  • Credit assessment experience gained from banking, investment or other industry sector a plus
  • Experience in assessing business plans
  • Proven understanding of commercial business gained through either SME management or experience of running own business
  • Knowledge of key business processes and aspects that affect the success of a business start up
  • Sound understanding of management accounts and their impact on business
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office especially in Excel.

Competencies and behaviours

  • Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic working environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Accustomed to delivering excellent results against targets and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter and strong team player
  • Ability to manage priorities and work
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Resourceful and resilient
  • Desire to make a difference!
