Enabling Enterprise is a not-for-profit social enterprise which helps schools to hone their students’ core skills and aspirations by bringing enterprise into the classroom. Like the year 5 students whose quest to develop the toy of the future ended with a visit to Hamleys presenting to senior staff, or the year 9 group who launched their own magazine and experienced the world of media, spending the day at international media company OMD, our students take the lead on some incredible team projects and are introduced to the world of work through visits to top UK businesses.
Enabling Enterprise has won two national education awards and social enterprise awards, and was recognised as the third fastest growing social enterprise in the SE100 in 2012.
This year we have worked with over 15,000 students nationwide with targets of 20,000 by the summer. As a not-for-profit organisation, our team is a mixture of paid employees and volunteers, and we are always keen to have new volunteers to join us, through our volunteering programme.
This volunteering placement offers first-hand experience of working in education innovation for a rapidly growing social enterprise. It offers the opportunity of working with the teaching team to ensure top quality delivery of our programmes.
This involves supporting at student trips to top businesses, and designing activities and challenges to be included in these.
- You will also have the chance to support at these events by briefing and working with the teachers and business volunteers, as well as working with the students themselves.
- You will also have the chance to help create new projects and challenge days, developing teaching resources which will be used across our schools. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to become a teacher or teaching assistant.
There will be many opportunities to find out about the different activities and challenges for a start-up organisation and you will have the chance to build networks with top businesses which support us, such as PwC, UBS and Freshfields. You will also have a dedicated volunteer manager to offer close support and regular feedback.
Fill out the Education Volunteer Application Form and send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 5th of March 2013.
Interviews will take place on the 7th of March and the voluntary placements will start the following week, though there can be room for flexibility.
