You may be familiar with ActionAid, World Vision or Plan International. They all do a great job. However, EEF take child sponsorship to a completely different level.
Each year we grant around 12 secondary school scholarships (grades 9-12) to extremely bright yet severely underprivileged children.
Students selected by EEF are sent to one of the leading private secondary schools in Ethiopia which has an excellent record of examination success. So far all of our High School graduates have achieved places at university in Ethiopia, some abroad with full scholarships (US, Finland, Turkey, UAE).
For all our selected students the scholarships include four years of fully paid tuition, school uniforms, school materials and full boarding at one of our student houses. The facilities of these houses include a computer room with internet access, library and recreational as well educational facilities. 1-2-1 mentoring and group seminars can be used and attended by all EEF scholars.
Each student is mentored through the 4 year programme by matching them with motivated, hand-picked individual sponsors. This structure gives them a sense of protection and encourages an environment where they can excel in their studies.
After High School graduation EEF also runs a university assistance programme for all our scholars who are not in receipt of full scholarships.
EEF’s work is making a real, lasting difference to future leaders of Ethiopia
