Our ideal Android App Developer is a master of all things Android (our radio stations use android tablets and phones, no iOS out here). The person will love working within the vast Android open source ecosystem and leveraging all the amazing APIs that are available.  Our organization’s heavy usage of google services including Drive, Gmail and Hangouts  as well as our plans to use Soundcloud to the max, will be music to your ears.  Our ideal person knows how to take existing content from news sources and social networks like and suggest exciting ways that a native Android App could take these services to the next level for our broadcaster partners sitting in their studios as well as out in the fields with farmers.  He / she will flourish working alongside our other volunteers: Online community Developer and SMS + Voice Developer to integrate into a pusling voltron like powerhouse!  Android App for Broadcasters

  • Work closely with the Online Community Developer to make services available natively through an Android App.

  • Create innovative ways in which an Android app could serve the information needs of broadcasters who are hosting/producing Farmers programs on the radio

    • Market prices

    • Weather information

  • Work closely with the SMS & Voice Developer to find ways that an Android App can be a way to send and receive voice information from various sources, including messages for and from farmers

  • Advise on use of existing innovative Android apps and accessible services

  • Explore possibility of using an Android App with Barza as a Learning Management System for offering training modules

  • Be a mentor to a junior developer who may work alongside and learn from you

  • Other responsibilities as they arise.
