General Assembly is a fast-growing, venture backed start-up focusing on delivering skills-based education in technology, design, and business.

We have campuses in NY, London, Berlin, Sydney, Hong Kong, Boston and SF and provide educational programming, space, and support to facilitate collaborative learning opportunities across a community ranging from individual students to large enterprises, all inspired by the entrepreneurial experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Production

We believe there is no substitute to face-to-face interaction. As such, we produce anywhere from 10-20 events every 3 months that speak to the topics our students care about. We need you to take over the management of these events and produce high quality experiences that help potential students explore new career trajectories, learn about new topics, and meet individuals who have changed their lives by learning new skills.

Email & Content Marketing

Our key communication channel with the GA community is through engaging and useful email content. As our mktg associate, you will be working closely with our team in NY to develop the content for our emails. This includes, but is not limited to: creating new marketing hooks, telling student stories, showcasing our instructors, and copy writing.

Social Media & Community Engagement

General Assembly is not just what happens in class or course  - our relationships with students and alumni go beyond the curriculum, so engaging the community will always be crucial for our business. From social media management  incl twitter, facebook and instagram to conversing with the relevant influencers in the field - you are empathetic, responsive and proactive about connecting our community with the world and each other.

Market Research

The last bit of the puzzle.  Time permitting, we would love for you to dig your teeth into trying to understand how we can best help our community in the UK, what can help us continue to stand out in the market, and what are some exciting, unrealised opportunities.

ABOUT YOU

You have a positive, can-do attitude
.

We’re looking for a good problem solver who shows initiative, follows instructions, and takes direction well, and is just as at home getting their hands dirty moving tables as shaking hands with a CEO and showing them around.

You are hungry
.

Do you feel like you have something to prove? Do you understand that your impact will be limited only by your effort? If so, you might be a good fit.

You are fluent in the languages of technology, design, and business.

If you’re serious about this job, you should be serious about the topics we teach. You don't need to have proficient coding skills, but spotting bad UX design, a growth hack or the difference between front-end and back-end languages would be an advantage.

You are a finisher.

Ideas are nice but execution is everything. We need someone who understands the focus and relentlessness it takes to do a good job.

You're interested in the community.

In addition to knowing the topics we teach its import to understand their importance in the context of the larger London ecosystem. A familiarity with who the top startups are, common roles their hiring for, where the best developers hang out, and where the next Silicon drinkabout will be held is a plus.
