At Grow Movement we believe in the economic empowerment of the people in the least developed countries on earth. Grow Movement uses remote volunteer consultants on an ultra-low cost base to help micro entrepreneurs in these communities realise their dreams, relieve poverty and create employment. Our sponsors and volunteers help improve the world one small action at a time and see the results for themselves.

We are a UK registered charity (charity number 1139083) and operate in Uganda, Rwanda and Malawi where we aim to provide free advice 1,200 micro entrepreneurs over the next three years with the potential to raise the living standards of up to 38,000 people through remote volunteer consulting over mobile phone.

Grow Movement was founded in 2009 by Chris Coghlan, a British emerging markets fund manager, and Violet Busingye, a young Ugandan woman who leads Grow Movement’s team of 200 remote volunteers in 47 countries worldwide. We aim to dramatically reduce the cost of business advice to the poorest communities on earth by using remote volunteer consultants led by locally recruited project managers in the communities we serve. Grow volunteers are expected to contribute the cost of telephone calls (with an international calling card, these can be as low as 0.08 USD/minute) and twelve 2-3 hour consulting sessions over a 3- 5 month period at mutually agreed times. Additionally, each volunteer is required to have a minimum level of professional experience, for example a formal business qualification (e.g. MBA, Chartered Accountant). Without the burden of heavy time or cost commitments, Grow Movement gives you the opportunity to apply your business skills to help make a sustainable difference to some of the poorest communities on earth.
