Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that is leading the use of mobile technology to benefit small holder farmers. 

The GSMA Mobile for Development mAgri programme works to catalyse the deployment of mobile solutions that benefit the agricultural sector in developing countries. These solutions are designed to address the problems of low yield, income and the value chain inefficiencies that beset the world’s poorest farmers.

The mAgri initiative achieves its aims by bringing together its mobile phone industry members and public and private sector agriculture organisations to create sustainable business models that can impact millions of small-holder farmers.

We have new services developed in Tanzania, Mali, Kenya and India and with new funding aim to help develop new and innovative services in other countries across Africa and Asia. 


The Role
 
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Project Manager to assist with the project management and co-ordination of the next phase of the mAgri Programme and mFarmer Initiative.


 Key responsibilities include:     

  • Driving project management for the overall programme, including developing and reviewing programme and project plans, risk and issue logs, change logs, financial tracking, etc.
  • Manage documentation for the internal and external programme reporting process, including: stipulated financial and narrative reports to donors, internal GSMA business units, mFarmer Working Group, international partner organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Manage all mAgri events which includes marketing activities, attendee lists and registrations and manage all logistics and operations.
  • Internal programme co-ordination including managing the mAgri contact database, raise and track purchase orders, RFPs, liaise with stakeholders, internal legal and financial teams, team liaison across 3 continents and managing the mAgri email account.   Criteria for selection
  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing complex projects working in a matrix environment.
  • Experience of delivering success in a fast changing and uncertain environments with clear evidence of personal involvement in complex technical, commercial and management issues.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in the escalation of issues and the formulation of solutions.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint. 
  • Experience of managing project budgets.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, professional, clear and concise communications of a consistently high quality.
  • Experience negotiating with and managing external suppliers.
  • Experience working for international development organisations leading project co-ordination and delivery would be advantageous.
  • A team player with experience of working in a consultative and facilitative environment.  Will need excellent English verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • French language skills would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel on an international basis. Please apply quick as deadline is rolling.
