IISAC is a registered non-profit organization and a recognized provider of education-based cultural exchange between the US and India. Since its founding in 1998, IISAC has developed a number of initiatives focused on undergraduate American students, including the Semester in India study abroad program, summer faculty-led programs, and experiential learning.

Our Mission:

To instill the spirit internationalism in young minds through experiential learning, study abroad, mentoring and career seminars.

Our Objectives:

  • Promote international education with US universities through the Semester in India and faculty-led short term programs.
  • Create awareness in tropical biodiversity, environmental health, climate change and sustainable development through nature education, field activities and research.
  • Promote experiential learning opportunities for US students in India with NGOs, educational institutions and charity organizations.

Our working culture is very entrepreneurial and we like to get our hands dirty. We have only 2 employees in the office and we have lots of personal time and space for creativity. We have a collegial feel and a pursuit of learning and travelling. Come and join us.

About the role

For 3-6 months in duration, the organization is seeking a Fellow to play an integral role in leading the marketing, product development, and curriculum development of new and existing initiatives in one of the largest democracies in the world – India.  The Fellow provides creative, operational, and analytical thought leadership on IISAC’s portfolio of educational programs.  Working directly with the co-founder and Director of IISAC, this position offers a big-pictured team player with a rare hands-on educational travel experience, while living abroad.

The position is based in IISAC’s Kottayam office in beautiful Kerala, a Top 10 ‘Paradise Found’ by National Geographic Traveler. Blessed with natural and cultural abundance, the Fellow can take advantage of the many privileges offered locally – idyllic beaches, tranquil backwaters, ayurveda, and mouthwatering cuisine.

The Fellow will be leading the following areas:

Marketing

Ideate and execute innovative ideas to reach a wider base of US universities who can benefit from IISAC’s signature programs in India:

  • Semester in India Program - Liberal Arts at the University of Kerala and ii) Thematic (Pre-Law, Business, Medical Sciences)
  • Summer Faculty-led Programs (namely in Biodiversity & Indian Studies) -Develop a streamlined partner management plan for existing US universities

Recommend and build marketing plans directly reaching IISAC’s end consumers - American undergraduate students - by effectively utilizing Facebook, Google, etc

Curriculum Development

  • Compose the overall framework, including individual courses, appealing academically to American students studying abroad in Kerala AND the full-time faculty of the Indian university across multiple departments.

New Program Development

  • Develop and shape a new program in the works: a one-month summer experiential program that blends Eastern Wisdom with local community service.

Relevant Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a traditional 4-year US University; Study abroad experience is a plus
  • Approximately 1-3 years of work experience in sales, marketing, business development, consulting, or financial services
  • Highly motivated self-starter and entrepreneurial, with a ‘can-do’ attitude; must work well independently
  • Display enthusiasm and positive attitude, and can work well with other team members
  • Strong work ethic and personal integrity
  • Superior oral, writing and presentation skills
  • Strong command of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

What we Offer:

  • Housing during your Fellowship in Kerala in a modern, Western-quality apartment in Kottayam
  • Stipend of US$300 per month for local food, etc
  • Each workweek is only 4 days, affording you 3-day weekend to explore the beauty of Kerala and Southern India
  • Opportunity to teach/mentor study abroad & local students
