Africa Biosystems Limited (ABL) is a distributor of state of the art life sciences equipment and consumables for the Eastern African markets.

ABL, in partnership with its service arm Helix Biotech Limited, is responsible for installation and after sales support for instruments sold to customers.

Customers fall into four main categories: government, NGOs, academic and private sector. The company is committed to providing excellent sales and support services, with a personal touch. It is driven by the principles of ethical practices, integrity, and dedication to customer services. 

The company is embarking on its next stage of growth and expansion and is looking for an ambitious CEO to build and lead its marketing and business development strategy.  

This role is ideal for someone who has the right mix of leadership, passion, energy, experience, business savvy, entrepreneurial spirit, innovative nature, and a passion for working in Africa or/and in Life Sciences.  He/she will also be responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors.

The CEO will have primary responsibility for:

  • Leading company operations 
  • Overall growth strategy
  • Organizational leadership
  • Financial and organizational management
  • External communications 
  • Marketing and sales strategies and implementation   Qualifications
  • Experience in sales and/or leadership efforts at a life sciences company, or other organization. 
  • Experience in business development or consulting advisory or CEO/COO experience desired. 
  • 10+ years of strategic sales / business development and/or marketing experience within desalination and water treatment.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.  
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Track record of building innovative, creative, and collaborative teams ·      Strong desire to lead from a strategic and tactical perspective in all aspects of day-to-day company operations.
  • Strong undergraduate (pref science based) and graduate (MBA) academic credentials preferred 
  • Exposure / work experience in emerging markets
