About the role

Living Goods seeks an energetic and resourceful Country Director to lead our established and successful operations in Uganda. There is enormous potential for innovation and growth for Living Goods in Uganda, and as Country Director,  you will contribute to our global organizational strategy. This position is based in Kampala, Uganda, and will require travel within Uganda, Kenya and the USA.  

Living Goods is a fast-paced, mission driven organization with a results-oriented, dynamic work environment. We are currently building a world-class team committed to achieving a sustainable reinvention of distribution in the developing world.


  • Manage a quickly evolving team that oversees a large franchised sales force, a nationwide inventory and complex logistical system. Develop a strategic work plan to foster high-paced sales growth in Uganda.
  • Build and lead a growing management and operations team, with line management supervision of all management, branch and support staff.
  • Oversee of the entire supply chain and distribution system. Must have the ability to significantly expand the network of franchised entrepreneurs, drive marketing and sales efforts, maximize health impacts, oversee merchandising, inventory and procurement, and build viable management systems in order to deliver insightful analyses and reporting.
  • Drive Living Goods towards financial sustainability, including management and oversight of a multi-million dollar budget.
  • Ensure rigorous financial management, regulatory compliance, accurate and timely reporting.
  • Successfully manage relationships with Ministry of Health and other regulatory authorities, and liaise with funders, partners and other key stakeholders
  • Enhance Living Goods’ dynamic, results-oriented organizational culture through inspirational leadership and shining as a positive role model.
  • As a key member of the management team, contribute to organization-wide strategy.
  • Innovate, initiate, and instigate big, positive change.


  • Ideal candidates must have a minimum of 8 to 10 years of private sector experience in business or social enterprise, and/or senior sales management experience overseeing large teams. Significant senior leadership experience in developing countries, especially within East Africa, is preferred.
  • Preference to managers with experience at nationally-recognized consumer brand, direct selling or multi-level marketing companies.
  • Proven track record of exceptional success, exceeding targets strategic breakthroughs and transformative innovation.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives within a dynamic environment, prioritizing both the urgent and important, without compromising productivity. Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with local and international teams, facilitate feedback and optimize implementation. Practical experience managing and optimizing performance of front line sales staff.
  • Strong analytical, inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a high-paced, dynamic, start-up environment.
  • University degree required. Preference for MBA or Masters.
