Medair is seeking a qualified professional in Management, Development Studies, Business Administration or in a related field. Post-graduate qualifications in the Humanitarian sector, Security Management training and Leadership training will be an asset.

You should have:

  • Min. 2 years post-qualification experience in a management position, preferably in a relief environment

  • Experience in the design, monitoring of implementation and evaluation of humanitarian / emergency programmes desirable

  • Experience in dealing with donors and government officials desirable

  • Knowledge of Humanitarian Essentials, Sphere and HAP Standards and other international humanitarian guidelines and protocols

  • Advanced leadership and project management, and good negotiation skills; Networking and advocacy skills desirable; excellent communication skills

  • Commitment to consultative, servant leadership, team-building, to develop and support team members

  • Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills; good report and proposal writing skills

The key areas in this role include; Project Management; Representation; Financial Management; Staff Management; Security Management; Quality Management. 

This is a field role and will be based in Amman with frequent travel to Mafraq sub.base, approximately an hour away. In response to the Syrian Refugee Crisis, Medair is committed to delivering emergency assistance to Syrian refugees and host communities in Jordan. Projects are in the sectors of Health & Nutrition, Shelter/NFI and potentially WASH.

  • Experienced professionals in a relevant field; Overseas intercultural experience

  • Commitment to the Medair values

  • Strong working knowledge of English, spoken and written

  • Working knowledge of French, spoken and written, for French-speaking field programmes

  • Single or married (with no children under 18). If married, your spouse must also apply.

  • Successful completion of Medair Relief & Recovery Orientation Course (ROC)

  • Reflect the vision and values of Medair with team members, local staff, beneficiaries, external contacts

  • Able to live and work in a multicultural team under difficult conditions

  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
